For decades, period products like pads, tampons and menstrual cups have been classified as "luxury items" under sales tax laws, despite being essential healthcare necessities. This classification has forced people who menstruate to pay extra for products they cannot go without, a burden often referred to a "Tampon Tax." Unlike many other medical and hygiene products that are tax-exempt, menstrual products have historically been excluded, highlighting a long-standing inequity we aim to eliminate.

In recent years, advocacy efforts have led many states to eliminate the tampon tax, recognizing menstrual products as essential healthcare items. However, not all states have removed it, and the fight for nationwide equity continues. Ending the tampon tax is more than just a financial adjustment--it's a step toward acknowledging menstrual health as a basic human right and ensuring dignity and fairness for all who menstruate.
